For four years
running the Dallos Design team has tackled the main venue at the Tribeca
Film Festival, The Tribeca Performing Arts Center. This venue hosts the
star studded arrivals on the Red Carpet, multiple press conferences and
screened films. The Festival culminates at the Center with the Closing
Night Awards Ceremony. A lot to light but nothing we could not handle.
Red Carpet Events
Starting on the sidewalk of the West Side Highway we lit for the hordes of
press that were there to cover the event. Attendees arrived in front of
the Performing Arts Center and were taken down the Red Carpet and past the
press in the Arrivals tent. We accomplished this task with a combination
of soft even white light on the attendees and red light under-lighting the
tent. Film Festival logos were projected at strategic points inside the
Arrivals Tent.
Screenings and Press Conferences
The two theatres inside the Center hosted a number of press conferences
and movie screenings. In the main theatre the ceiling of acoustical panels
was treated in a mosaic of ever changing colors all Film Festival
specific. Festival and sponsorship logos were projected throughout and the
press conferences were given appropriate lighting levels for TV and Print
media.
Closing Night Award Ceremony
For the Award Ceremony the main theatre was transformed into a space fit
to resemble the Oscars meet downtown NYC. 2004 and 2005 were both
radically different. 2004 used a host of LED and automated lighting to
keep the pallet of the set ever changing. 2005 had a greater downtown feel
with a rock band on stage and appropriately Glam lighting to suit the mood.
2007 saw the addition of an opening night party with a keynote speech by
Al Gore and music by Bon jovi. |
